New facilities for disabled commuters will be built at Twyford train stations, Berkshire as part of a £370m government upgrade project.
The station has been selected as part of the department for transport access scheme and will get a share of the £370m pot. Under the scheme the facilities at the station will be upgraded to allow disabled passengers to travel easily between platforms.
The project is being rolled out in two stages, and it is hoped the work at Twyford will be completed by 2009. Wokingham Area Access Group, who has led the campaign for changes to train station accessibility, are highly delighted with this news.
